FAQ about Non-JUPAS Admission

On general admission and application:

Is 6963 the JUPAS code on Engineering Common Admissions? I would like to apply for BEng(CompSc) programme, how can I show my intention?

Yes, 6963 is the JUPAS code on Engineering common admissions.
If you are intended to apply for BEng(CompSc) programme, please put this statement at the very beginning of your PERSONAL STATEMENT:
I am applying for the BEng(CompSc) programme.

How many places are there in your programme for non-JUPAS applicants?

The number of places allocated varies from year to year, depending on the situation of the JUPAS applications.

If I have questions about admission, who should I contact?

On entrance requirements:

Who can apply as a non-JUPAS applicant?

Basically, students of Associate Degree (AD) Yr 1, Yr 2; Higher Diploma (HD) Yr 2, Yr 3; International Schools; Overseas High Schools etc. can all apply as non-JUPAS applicants. We prefer students of IT-related areas.

What sort of results will I need to achieve in order to stand a chance?

For AD/HD students: GPA of 3.2 or above. For IVE students: Average scores of 75 or above.
In addition, we require applicants to have Grade D or above in AS Use of English in HKALE or Level 3 or above in HKDSE English Language or overall band of 6.5 or better in IELTS or a score of 550 or higher in the paper-based TOEFL (213 for computer-based; 80 for Internet-based).

Will there be advanced standing?

Students who have completed an IT-related Associate Degree or Higher Diploma programme may apply for advanced standing.

Will there be direct entry to Year 2?

Yes, there are a few places for direct entry to Year 2 for students admitted with AD/HD qualifications.

On interviews:

When will the interviews be held?

Interviews will be held from early March to June according to their priorities of programme choices. We shall invite applicants who have put 6963 BENG as their first choice AND have explicitly informed us that they are applying for BEng(CompSc) programme for interviews in early March.

How will the interviews be conducted?

Applicants will be interviewed individually in English for approximately 15 minutes.
