ACM Symposium on
Virtual Reality Software & Technology 2001
Organized and sponsored by ACM, SIGGRAPH, and SIG-CHI

ACM Virtual Reality Software and Technology (VRST) is an annual conference devoted to the technical aspects of virtual reality. The first VRST was held in Singapore in 1994 and since then it has been held in Japan, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Taiwan, England and Korea. VRST2001 will be the first VRST held in North America. The VRST proceedings are published byACM and can be purchased directly from them.

VRST 2001 will be held at the Banff Centre in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. Banff is a national park and is world famous for its mountain scenery. The Banff Centre provides graduate and professional level education in the arts and business management, and has a long history of research in the application of VR technology to the arts. The Banff New Media Institute runs a workshop program devoted to the interaction between the arts and technology, and this symposium will be part of that program. 

The Banff Centre provides a range of accommodations and has excellent conference facilities. Participants are encouraged to stay at the centre where they can interact with other conference participants during meals and outside of conference activities. Banff National Park is a major tourist destination, so plan to stay an extra day or two to take in all of the sites.

The VRST technical program consists of high quality technical papers that are reviewed and selected by an international program committee. Papers are solicited on all technical aspects of Virtual Reality and related technologies, including but not limited to the following topics:
