A few issues on indexing

Abstract

Indexing has been an important aspect of database operations. In this talk I will highlight uses of indexing in some new types of queries: reverse nearest neighbors and joins (time permitting). The focus is not only in queries but in other operations such as bulk insert. I would also highlight a bit of my ongoing research and speculate possible directions for index research.
